Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss Endorses Congressman Payne

NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Representative Donald M. Payne, Jr., (D-Newark) is announcing the endorsement of Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss. One of the 10th District’s most reliably Democratic municipalities, Irvington has seen significant revitalization in recent years with Mayor Vauss’ leadership and Congressman Payne is excited to continue partnering with him and his team.

“Our team’s motto is Irvington Strong, and I know we have a true partner in Congressman Payne who fights for us every day in Washington to make our community even stronger,” said Mayor Vauss. “Congressman Payne delivered over $14 million in federal grants to Irvington last year alone, and I know we can count on him to stand up for our values and principles. I’m excited to endorse Congressman Payne and to stand with him in this Primary Election.”

Congressman Payne’s support for Irvington has included significant federal funding for priorities like public safety, affordable housing, job training and more. That has helped Mayor Vauss and his team deliver critical services to residents while keeping property taxes stable.

“Mayor Vauss has been a wonderful leader for his community, spearheading crucial investments in infrastructure, economic development grants, and the revitalization of the township’s public recreation facilities,” said Congressman Payne. “I am proud to receive his support and look forward to continuing to work with Mayor Vauss to deliver for the people of Irvington”.

Congressman Payne has recently been endorsed by Planned Parenthood Action Fund,  New Jersey Education Association, the Communications Workers of America NJ, Laborers’ International North America Eastern Region, the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association and AFSCME NJ. He also recently announced the support of U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Governor Phil Murphy, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop.
