ISAAW STANDS WITH PROTESTORS MARCHING PEACEFULLY IN CONDEMNING THE MURDER OF GEORGE FLOYD
Inspiring South Asian American Women – ISAAW (“ISAAW”) stands in solidarity with protestors marching peacefully in New Jersey and across the nation condemning the murder of George Floyd. Together with our Black brothers and sisters, we denounce the violence against African Americans by the police and the system racism that enables such violence.
“As Americans, we must recognize that systemic racism toward African Americans has existed from the inception of this country,” said Suchitra Kamath, President of ISAAW. “As people of color, we must also address our own anti-Black racism in order to be effective allies. Our community is only able to thrive today because black Americans gave their lives to achieve civil rights. As the late Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King stated, “our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
