IUOE Local 68 Endorses Bell, Mazzeo, Armato

Operating Engineers back the Democratic ticket in 2nd District

(Atlantic City, NJ) — The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 68 announced today their official endorsement for Colin Bell for Senate, Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo and John Armato for Assembly.

The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) is a progressive, diversified trade union that primarily represents operating engineers, who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors in the construction industry, and stationary engineers, who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes, and in the service industries. Many Local 68 men and women work in the Atlantic City casino industry.

“Assemblyman Mazzeo has been a stalwart supporter of union labor in the Assembly. I’m proud that Colin Bell will be joining him in the State Senate and John Armato, a ten year veteran of the Building Trades, will be joining Vince in the Assembly,” said Ed Boylan, President of IUOE Local 68.

“I’m grateful for the tremendous support from Local 68 and the hard-working men and women of the building trades,” said Colin Bell. “As a member of the Senate, I will fight to protect project labor agreements and prevailing wage — two cornerstone acts that helped build and maintain our middle-class in South Jersey.”

“I’m proud to have once again earned the support of the membership of IUOE Local 68,” said Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo. “With their support I will continue to fight for fair and equal wages for all workers while bringing in new businesses to put more union men and women to work.”

“As a member of Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 322 for over a decade, I was proud to work alongside members of Local 68 in many Atlantic City casinos,” said John Armato, candidate for Assembly. “I know the importance of the Building Trades to Atlantic County’s work force, and as an Assemblyman, I will work day in and out to make sure that our middle-class families continue to have the chance to thrive.”
