A.J. Perri Cares Program Gives Back to Military Veterans

TINTON FALLS—A.J. Perri, a New Jersey-based provider of air conditioning, heating and plumbing services celebrating its 50th anniversary, gave back to two military veterans by donating and installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units free of charge in their homes.

Former U.S. Marines Robert Felicito and Thomas Winemiller, both of Brick Township, received their donations through the A.J. Perri Cares Program, which has been donating equipment and services to military veterans since 2017. In the past, A.J. Perri has donated equipment and services to other veterans and healthcare workers in communities that include Brick, Point Pleasant, Clark, and many others. A.J. Perri employees also regularly engage in volunteer and civic activities geared towards veterans’ services.

“Our entire team appreciates the selfless service our active-duty and retired military men and women have given for their country,” said A.J. Perri General Manger Christian Dunning. “It’s a privilege for us to honor their service and sacrifices by making their homes as comfortable as we can, free of charge.”

Felicito, whose father was also a Marine, served from 1989 to 1993. He inherited his house from his mother after she passed away. The house’s HVAC unit was showing its 20 years of age before A.J. Perri donated a new system. Felicito stated that, as a veteran, he is both appreciative and thankful for the support of A.J. Perri and its employees have given him. “The air conditioning had been creeping along in the summer months, and it was definitely the right time to get a new furnace and air conditioner,” he said.

Thomas Winemiller’s service with the Marines ran from 2004 to 2012 and included tours in Kuwait and Iraq. He works for Wall Township and volunteers for local fire companies. Winemiller and his fiancé, Sophie Butterman, bought an older house in Brick three years ago because its charm reminded them both of their grandparents’ homes. But the house came with a 25-year-old furnace in need of repairs that were beyond their budget.

A.J. Perri installed an entirely new HVAC system and did extensive repair work on the house’s ducts to ensure the system worked as efficiently as possible, all free of charge. “Tommy is very deserving of a new HVAC system,” said Butterman. “He is the most hardworking, easy going and considerate person I’ve ever met, and is always putting other people’s needs before his.”

“A.J. Perri is proud to be able to give back to veterans like Robert and Thomas,” said Dunning. “They’ve served our country, and to show our appreciation our team is excited to help them beat the heat this summer and the cold in the coming winter.”
