James McGreevey: Fellowship with Governor Phil Murphy
Fellowship with Governor Phil Murphy
Jersey City, NJ—Governor Phil Murphy will join the congregation of Monumental Baptist Church in Jersey City for an exceptional fellowship service on Sunday, January 26th, at 11:00 a.m.
The service will celebrate Monumental’s 125 years of faithful ministry in the Bergen-Lafayette community and highlight its significant contributions to Jersey City’s spiritual and social fabric. Governor Murphy will deliver remarks celebrating the church’s history and longstanding commitment to the community.
Governor Murphy will recognize Jim McGreevey, a candidate for mayor of Jersey City. Governor Murphy has worked closely with Jim McGreevey for the past 7 years. McGreevey serves as Executive Director of the New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC), which provides resources for persons leaving incarceration, addiction treatment, and veterans leaving the theater of combat.
“Personal experience, and a learned understanding of how government operates, is absolutely essential to ensuring our institutions better serve the needs of New Jersey’s working families. And I know that Jim McGreevey is committed to making municipal government work on behalf of the more than 290,000 people who call Jersey City home,” said Governor Murphy. “Jim’s experience as mayor of Woodbridge, State Senator, and Governor, as well as his service in the nonprofit sector as the Executive Director of the New Jersey Reentry Corporation based in Jersey City, has proven that he is both a powerful and effective advocate for those in need. I trust that he will help transform Jersey City for the better and build a city that welcomes and supports every one of its residents.”
Grateful for Governor Murphy’s endorsement, McGreevey stated, “For the past seven years, I’ve had the privilege of working daily with Governor Murphy’s Administration. The Governor has delivered practical support to court-involved and marginalized persons, both legislatively and administratively, including identification services, county, state, and federal benefits, presumptive Medicaid eligibility, voting rights, and increased opportunities for employment training. I am deeply grateful to Governor Murphy for his leadership and Administration’s support for Second Chances, particularly to those most marginalized in our community and state. On a personal level, I am personally and professionally honored by this endorsement. ”
