Jasey Calls Out NJ Transit for Refusing to Meet with Legislators & Local Officials to Discuss M&E Line Disruption
(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Mila Jasey (D-Essex/Morris) issued the following statement on Tuesday criticizing NJ Transit for its refusal to meet with elected officials to discuss plans to suspend the Morris & Essex line’s Mid-Town Direct service this summer:
“Senator Richard Codey and Assemblyman John McKeon, along with many of our local elected officials, went to NJ Transit’s headquarters today to discuss the disruption to the Morris and Essex line. While on my way to join them, I learned from my colleagues that they were denied a requested meeting to address concerns about this decision. Given the impact on riders who rely on this service, and all the other ongoing problems that have made traveling on NJ Transit a nightmare for commuters, this refusal was disrespectful and frustrating. These decisions have real consequences for residents, and state and local officials deserve better than closed doors when they seek answers. This pattern of abject disregard cannot and will not be tolerated. Whether it likes it or not, NJ Transit will be held accountable.”
