JC Councilwoman Ridley: Holiday Lights Illuminate Ward A Parks in Jersey City
Holiday Lights Illuminate Ward A Parks in Jersey City
Jersey City, NJ – December 10, 2024 – This holiday season, residents of Jersey City’s Ward A section can enjoy a brighter, more festive atmosphere as Councilwoman Denise Ridley announces the installation of holiday lights at all Ward A parks. The initiative, aimed at spreading joy and community spirit, will light up the parks and create a welcoming environment for families and visitors to enjoy throughout the holiday season.
The installation of holiday lights is part of Councilwoman Ridley’s ongoing efforts to enhance public spaces. “Each year, residents and park associations ask for Christmas lights, not realizing the lights they see in other areas are the result of various Special Improvement District (SID) boards. Since Ward A only has one SID and its lights do not extend into the Ward, I thought we should add a little holiday cheer where we could,” said Councilwoman Ridley. “We are rolling out two lamp post lights in each Ward A park as a trail run this year. We hope to be able to do more next year.”
The lights are the first phase of a plan to upgrade public spaces in the Ward. The Councilwoman is also looking to provide similar enhancements in the spring with a roll out of community banners encouraging neighborhood pride in the Greenville and Bergen Lafayette neighborhoods. Councilwoman Ridley has taken on other big projects lately such as securing funds for free Jersey City Recreation summer camp for families in need and spearheading the charge to establish a recreation center in each ward of the City.
“We hope these lights bring a little extra joy and warmth to our community during this special time of year. My office will continue to move forward on initiatives that are important to our residents,” Councilwoman Ridley added. “Happy Holidays from the Ward A Council Office!”
The Councilwoman is hosting her yearly Toy Drive at Brightside Tavern, 121 Bright Street, Jersey City, on December 19th at 6p. Additionally, the Annual Toy Distribution will be held on December 23rd at 6pm – Location to be announced.
