Jersey City Health and Public Safety Coalition Statement On NJCU’s Pre-College Bound Program

“Recently, I’ve found out New Jersey City University will be ending it’s Pre- College Bound program. This program provides academic enrichment, educational counseling, college tours, test preparation, and mentoring to many of our youth in the City of Jersey City especially on the South side of Jersey City. How can we be role models to our children when we are cutting vital programs aimed to enrich their growth and development? I believe something needs to be done to protect our children in Jersey City. There needs to be a round table discussion with NJCU, elected officials, and the Jersey City Board of Education to form a partnership to save this program! I’ve received updates from Senator Sandra Cunningham, Assemblywoman Angela V. McKnight and Councilman Daniel Rivera.”
