Jersey1st TikTok on Gas Prices Across America Hits One Million Views

PARSIPPANY, NJ–The Jersey1st intern team hit the social media jackpot this month when a TikTok- posted on June 8th reached more than 1 million views. The video tracked gas prices from California to New Jersey, using a map of the United States drawn on a whiteboard, and a toy car. The throw-back visuals used in the video were wildly popular with TikTok viewers, bringing in almost 400 new followers and garnering 31.6k likes.  The post – which can be seen here: https://youtube.com/shorts/iXB7lwMeIzs?feature=share was bombarded with duets and comments from enthusiastic viewers.

The TikTok was the brainchild of a team of interns at Jersey1st – a fiscally and socially responsible nonprofit organization working to educate, inform and advocate for the people of New Jersey.  Jersey 1st was founded by tax policy lawyer and advocate Rosemary Becchi in 2018 with the mission of advocating for economic and social policies in the best interests of New Jersey families and businesses.  Jersey1st launched their popular internship program in 2021- and have had 72 interns since inception.

The intern team is just getting started- they are releasing a series of informative videos on relevant political issues facing New Jerseyans today. Recent videos have focused on inflation and gas prices- and the team is promising more creative ideas on the horizon with the goal of engaging young people in the critical issues facing New Jersey. “It’s amazing to be part of a message that reached so many people” said summer intern Caitlin Mullooly, a junior at Lafayette College from Cedar Knolls, New Jersey.  “We are going to keep working to make an impression on our generation- the issues we are working on are too important to ignore.”

Those interested can learn more about Jersey 1st on their new website: www.jersey1st.org – which serves as a resource and home for grassroots efforts on the critical issues facing New Jersey today.
