Jim Johnson Statement on Governor Christie’s Final Budget Address
In response to Governor Christie’s final budget address, gubernatorial candidate Jim Johnson said:
“For the past seven years, Governor Christie has ignored the needs of the people, resulting in both the highest property tax and foreclosure rates in the nation, one of the worst credit ratings in the country, and the third most segregated school system. In his final budget address, Christie failed yet again to deliver a budget that contains real solutions for working families. Instead, it harms them by doubling down on corporate tax breaks and cutting funding for Charity Care, and furthermore, contains no concrete solution to address the disparities in our school system.
“The next Governor will be tasked with undoing the damage that Governor Christie has done to New Jersey’s economy and the lives of our residents. For far too long, politicians have put their own interests first instead of prioritizing the needs of New Jersey. It’s time once and for all to bring real change to Trenton and put forth a budget that reflects New Jersey’s values and puts the people first.”
