Joint Committee on the Public Schools to Discuss Equity and Diversity

 

(TRENTON) – The Joint Committee on the Public Schools will hold a hearing on Tuesday to examine ways to promote diversity in New Jersey schools.

The committee will hear a presentation by the New Jersey Association of School Administrators on three programs: the NJASA 4 Equity Initiative, the Consortia for Equity Through Excellence partnership and a leadership diversity program.

The presentation will be followed by testimony from invited guests about minority and male teacher recruitment and retention.

The committee includes Assembly Democrats Mila Jasey (D-Essex, Morris), who serves as co-chair; Ralph Caputo (D-Essex); Patricia Egan Jones (D-Camden, Gloucester); and Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen, Passiac).

The hearing will be held Tuesday, April 9 at 9:30 a.m. in Committee Room 16 of the State House Annex. A live audio feed can be found at njleg.state.nj.us.
