Josh Roesch, Campaign Manager for Amy Kennedy for Congress, on Brigid Harrison’s Questionable Pledge for Medicare and Social Security
Roesch: “The people of South Jersey can’t afford to elect another politician who is a Republican in Democrats’ clothing.”
Brigantine, NJ – In response to the Medicare and Social Security pledge Brigid Harrison put out today, Josh Roesch, Amy Kennedy for Congress Campaign Manager released the following statement:
“Today, Brigid Harrison put out a pledge claiming that she will fight against cuts to Medicare and Social Security,“That’s easy to say now, but in 2011 when she wasn’t running for Congress, Brigid said on Fox News that,”
‘President Obama and the Democrats in Congress have to realize, in order to solve this problem of escalating debt, we have to deal with Medicare and Medicaid. Failure to do so is a failure to deal with the crisis.’
“Everyone knows what ‘deal with Medicare and Medicaid’ means. It’s how Republicans in Washington talk about cutting the essential programs our seniors and most vulnerable rely on. The people of South Jersey can’t afford to elect another politician who is a Republican in Democrats’ clothing.”
(The Harrison campaign responded with this statement: “Big Pharma is bankrolling Amy Kennedy’s campaign, which is why she would oppose how President Obama “dealt with” Medicare and Medicaid. President Obama slashed payments to Big Pharma, saving over $135 billion over 10 years and requiring Big Pharma to lower their prices. Brigid supported what President Obama did, what she is against is a Kennedy campaign bankrolled by scandal-ridden health care companies like Wellpath and drug manufactures that are and profiteering from our seniors.”)
