July “Serve With Senator Singleton” Project to Help Homeless Cats

Palmyra, NJ – In honor of National Lost Pet Prevention Month, Senator Troy Singleton will partner with Purrsonal Space – South Jersey’s Cat Lounge for his July “Serve with Senator Singleton” community service event.  It will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 and volunteers are asked to serve along with the Senator from 10:00am-12:00pm at Purrsonal Space, 1005 Market Street, Palmyra.

Purrsonal Space rescues homeless and lost cats. To help with that mission, the Senator and a group of volunteers will construct tear-away collars for the cats by using Velcro and other materials so that the cats are identifiable if they get lost. Both children and adults can volunteer with the Senator to serve the community and improve animal welfare.

“Treating animals humanely and ensuring that they are well-cared for has been a priority of mine during my time in the Legislature,” said Senator Singleton. “In July, it is our pleasure to volunteer at Purrsonal Space, where we will make cat collars that will help identify the cats should they ever get lost again.”

This event will be the Senator’s 19th “Serve with Singleton” community service project.  Previous volunteer efforts included: painting various community spaces, clean-up days at Jacob’s Chapel Ministry Center, Strawbridge Lake, Providence House and Bordentown’s Senior Center; supply drives for UIH Family program; setting-up Cinnaminson’s Relay for Life; building animal shelters with HousePaws; volunteering at the Extended Hands Ministries homeless shelter and the Burlington County Library System’s 5th Annual makers Faire, and others.

The Purrsonal Space Cat Lounge, which opened in February 2018, has helped find homes for nearly 30 cats in the community. With the help of compassionate, nurturing foster families, Purrsonal Space saves homeless cats from the shelter and intervenes when cats lose their homes.  The Lounge provides a safe, temporary residence in a cage-free environment, with love, enrichment and socialization amongst other cats and humans. Serving as a visual and hands-on educational center, the Lounge hosts various events, classes, and activities for children and adults alike to help raise awareness of animal welfare issues.
