Justin Tibbetts Nominated As GOP LD15 Assembly Candidate

Justin Tibbetts nominated for Assembly

New Jersey 15th legislative district

Lawrence,  NJ- August 23, 2018 – Tuesday night, August 21st, public servant and community leader Justin Tibbetts was chosen, by the Mercer and Hunterdon County Committee members of the 15th district, to be the Republican nominee to run for the New Jersey State Assembly this November. Tibbetts was nominated by former Assembly candidate and County Committeeman Anthony Giordano of Trenton, which was then seconded by former Ewing councilman and current Ewing Republican Chairman Don Cox.

Assembly candidate Justin Tibbetts proudly accepted the nomination and thanked the County Committee members and the Republican Party leadership for their unwavering support.

Tibbetts has announced that his platform is one “For the People.”

He proposes term limits for state legislators, noting that “if those in power cannot fix our state’s problems in eight years, what makes us think more time will change anything?”

To reign in state government spending, Tibbetts proposes a 2 percent cap on the state budget, with any excess revenue above the two percent to be dedicated solely to property tax relief or budgetary surplus to avoid state tax increases during time of recession. “People are getting taxed out of our state and I know we can do better. This budgetary reform will go a long way to turning our state’s finances around.” Tibbetts said.

Citing the high property tax burden on those with fixed incomes, Tibbetts announced that, as their Assemblyman,  he will vote to double the senior citizen property tax deduction and make it eligible for seniors making up to $50,000 in annual income.

The last time the property tax deduction was increased for senior citizens was 1983. Assembly candidate Justin Tibbetts was one year old at the time.

“A lot has changed since 1983. Unfortunately, property taxes have skyrocketed over that time, yet tax relief for our seniors has remained flat.

I will be a voice for our seniors in the legislature and pledge to do everything in my power to help get them the relief they deserve.”  said Tibbetts.
