KEELING GEDDIS RECEIVES HEA BACKING IN CITY COUNCIL ELECTION

(Hackensack, NJ.) Councilwoman Deborah Keeling-Geddis has received the endorsement of the Hackensack Education Association in her campaign for city council in the May 9 non-partisan election.

Keeling-Geddis is heading a slate running as Hackensack Strong.  That slate includes Richard Cerbo, David Dungey; Angelica Carfi-Meneses and Rafael A. Del Rosario

“I’m honored to receive the HEA support and the backing of all those who want to work to improve the futures of the children of this community,” said Keeling-Geddis. “I care very deeply about this community and I am disheartened by the years of infighting and personal agendas that only serve to satisfy the egos of the Labrosse/Canestrino ticket.”

In announcing its support of Keeling-Geddis, Michael DeOrio, the president of the HEA said Keeling-Geddis has proved that she is extremely supportive of teachers and what is best for the community.

“I accept the HEA’s support not only for myself, but for the entire Hackensack Strong team — which is fighting right now to bring positive change and effective and inclusive leadership to this city,” added Keeling-Geddis who works as Para-educator in the school district’s special services department.

Some of the issues that Keeling-Geddis and her Hackensack Strong team are running on are promises to:

·       Create a working relationship with the Board of Education.

·       Renew and strengthen ties to the community and increase trust between the governed and the government

·       Re-examine the city’s recreation plan to ensure that it is inclusive of all of our residents.

·       Create a viable redevelopment plan that benefits the taxpayer in the near future-not thirty years from now.

Keeling-Geddis was born and raised in Hackensack. She is the daughter of Magdalene and the late Rev. Benjamin Keeling. She was elected to the Hackensack City Council in a special election in November 2015.

Keeling-Geddis has been involved in Hackensack political movements since 2001, fighting to improve the city for residents. She served on the PTA boards for Fairmount School and Hackensack High School and served as a Hackensack Education Association Para-representative for the high school.
