Keep Morris Strong Team Announces Local Campaign Coordinators To Take Fight to ‘Tax-Happy, Murphy-Aligned Democrats’

Smith, Krickus & Shaw build out local campaign team;
Tout 30,000 grassroots voter contacts at midpoint of the summer

Morris County, August 7, 2018 – Morris County’s Republican Freeholder ticket announced their local grassroots coordinators and touted their impressive summer voter contacts today – pledging to take the fight to a far-left Morris County Democrat ticket that threatens to destroy the special quality of life that has made the county one of the best places to live in America.

“The Morris County Democrats have embraced Governor Phil Murphy’s radical agenda of higher taxes on families and businesses, Sanctuary Cities for criminal illegal immigrants, and bloated government spending that we can’t afford,” said Freeholder Deb Smith and her running mates John Krickus and Stephen Shaw, in a joint statement.  “The people of Morris County want Republican Freeholders who know how to govern and get things done locally, not far-left Democrats who will raise property taxes, embrace radical policies, and destroy our quality of life.”

Smith, Krickus and Shaw announced Sydney Ugalde as the campaign’s Field Operations Manager, and Joseph Bock, Jr., Brielle Cook and Michael Carelli as her top lieutenants in the field charged with voter outreach and campaign organizing countywide.

“We could not be prouder to have such a young, energetic and knowledgeable group leading our effort in the field,” said Smith, Krickus and Shaw.  “They are not just the future of our Morris County Republican Party – but this campaign will prove they are also the present.”

Smith, Krickus and Shaw touted the following achievements at the midway point of the summer:

  • 30,000 candidate and volunteer door-to-door contacts made since the primary.
  • An active and professional social media presence to amplify their message.
  • Effective coordination with the Hugin, Lance & Webber campaigns on the ground.
  • Multiple in-county fundraisers to ensure the campaign is well-funded post-Labor Day.

Sydney Ugalde is Chair of the Morris County Young Republicans and graduated from the College of Saint Elizabeth in May, majoring in Business Administration, with a minor in History/Political Science.  A proud Hispanic, Sydney is also the Municipal Chair in Randolph, where she also sits on the Municipal Alliance Committee to combat drug and alcohol abuse.

Joseph Bock, Jr. Esq. is the Municipal Chair in the Town of Boonton and is the immediate Past-Chairman of the Morris County Young Republicans.  He is a municipal and land use attorney (Kaufman, Semeraro & Leibman, LLP) and a member of the Republican National Lawyers Association.

Brielle Cook is President of the Montville Township Republican Club, an ICU Nurse at Morristown Memorial Medical Center, and a Volunteer Firefighter.  Brielle is also a Member of the Montville Township Board of Health and was a key Morris County campaign volunteer and advisor to both the Gannon for Sheriff and Ciattarelli for Governor races in Morris County.

Michael Carelli recently graduated from William Paterson University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and currently serves as the Legislative Aide for Senator Anthony Bucco. He brings campaign experience from working on the Guadagno for Governor and Corrado for Senate campaigns last year.  Michael manages the Riverdale Food Pantry and serves Vice Chairman on the Borough of Riverdale Shade Tree Commission.
