Brigid Harrison’s Negative Attack of the Day Gets an ‘F’

Brigantine, NJ – Today, Josh Roesch, campaign manager for Amy Kennedy for Congress, released the following statement after Brigid Harrison’s attempts to bash Patrick Kennedy’s mental health advocacy work.

Brigid loves to tout her bona fides as a political science professor, so you would think that she would understand how an issue becomes a movement, how a movement becomes a bill, and how a bill becomes a law.  In a divided government, it often takes Democrats and Republicans to enact legislation.  Patrick fought hard for many years to break down the partisan barriers around mental health issues enough to pass the most sweeping mental health legislation in the history of this country. Parity PAC is a single-issue PAC that gives money to any candidate with a genuine interest in helping the millions of Americans, and their families, struggling with mental health issues.  Brigid should know that many PACs give money to candidates of both parties.  If she wants to apply the same logic to herself as she does to Amy, she should give back all of the money she has received from PACS that have donated to her and that have given money to Republicans.  She should also finally agree to take the End Citizens United pledge not to accept corporate PAC money, which she has repeatedly refused to do.  Brigid gets an “F” on today’s political science lesson.

Harrison campaign senior adviser Matthew Frankel responded: ‘“Here is what we know – it’s been a super bad week for Amy. We learned this week that she and Patrick have been sending thousands and thousands of dollars in contributions to extremely conservative Trump Republicans who sought the repeal President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. We learned that Amy does not have the guts to address the fair question about her relationship to the convicted criminal and party boss, Craig Callaway. All she has to do is answer the question: is her campaign or associates paying him? We are still waiting. We learned that Amy actually sought the party line, and when she was rejected, she railed against it. And to make matter worse, the day they received the endorsement of End Citizens United, we learned that she has actually been receiving lobbyist money from Big Pharma all along. It is utterly laughable that Jeff Van Drew’s former campaign manager — who was rejected for a position on Brigid’s campaign– is throwing out lectures on political science. And to think it’s only Thursday! Wonder what new level of Kennedy corruption will emerge tomorrow.”
