Congressman Andy Kim Receives Endorsement From Powerhouse Unions NJEA and NEA

in His Bid for U.S. Senate

MOORESTOWN N.J. – Today, Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of the New Jersey Education Association and the National Education Association in his bid for U.S. Senate. Representing over 200,000 teachers, educators, and educational support professionals in NJ and over 3 million members across the country, the NJEA and NEA are not just educating students, but fighting for a fairer and more just economy with better working conditions, stronger wages, and increased opportunities for all.

“Our public school teachers helped shape who I am today, and it’s an honor to have their support,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “I look forward to working alongside NJEA members to strengthen the quality of our schools in all parts of our state and to elevate the voices of our teachers and education support professionals.”

“Rep. Andy Kim has been an outstanding representative for the people of New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District. A proud graduate of New Jersey’s public schools, he truly stands for the values and ideals that we all work to instill in our students: pride in themselves, pride in our country, and a deep dedication to doing what is right, regardless of what everyone else may be doing,” said NJEA’s officers, President Sean M. Spiller, Vice President Steve Beatty and Secretary-Treasurer Petal Robertson. “He will be a staunch advocate for public education in the U.S. Senate and will undoubtedly make all of us here in New Jersey proud to have him representing us, alongside Sen. Cory Booker.”

During his time in Congress, Andy has supported New Jersey’s teachers, educators, and educational support staff by securing funding to upgrade schools’ technology infrastructure, advocating for better pay and benefits for all school staff, and working to modernize public schools through the Rebuild America’s Schools Act, which would invest in the long-term improvement of public schools across New Jersey.

Congressman Andy Kim is a three-term Member of Congress first elected in 2018 and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.

In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
