Lagana Statement on Department of Justice Veterans’ Home Report

Trenton – Senator Joe Lagana issued the following statement on the Department of Justice’s report on the Paramus and Menlo Park Veterans’ Homes:

“It pains me to read the most recent report highlighting the failures at our state run veterans’ homes. The individuals relying on their care have put their lives on the line to protect our country and they deserve nothing short of the highest quality medical services. To hear that staff were not adequately monitoring residents’ conditions or applying proper wound care underscores that the issues there go well beyond infectious disease control. They were failing to provide even basic medical care. The people of New Jersey should be outraged to learn that the state was content with providing such poor care to individuals we hold in such high regard. My heart breaks for all those living in these homes and their families. We cannot allow this to go on any longer.”
