Lagana, Swain & Tully Statement on Consequences of Federal Government Shutdown

TRENTON – Senator Joseph Lagana, Assemblywoman Lisa Swain, and Assemblyman Chris Tully issued the following statement today in response to the consequences of the federal government’s partial shutdown:

“New Jersey is also adversely affected by the shutdown, because federal grants are not being distributed to the states. NJ Transit is losing important funding needed to function. Without funding, Moody’s is considering lowering the credit rating of NJ Transit. District 38 and the rest of the state have been working tirelessly to improve one of the most important institutions in New Jersey. Our efforts, however, may be in vain. As we wait to see what happens on the federal level, we’ve reached out to NJ Transit to see what, if anything, can be done on the state level to prevent further adverse effects. We will continue to fight tirelessly for our residents and for the state of New Jersey.”
