La’Keisha Sutton Donating 50 Basketballs to Her Local Rec Center

 

Trenton, NJ— August, 3 2019 – Local hometown hero, La’Keisha Sutton has already shown that basketball talents can take a kid to superstardom in high school, college and in different countries worldwide.

 

Now, Sutton is the newest member of the Harlem Globetrotters. La’Keisha will be hosting an event at the West Ward Recreation Center where she will be donating 50 basketballs as a Globetrotter. The world famous organization, signed Sutton, the first female Globetrotter from New Jersey, to a contract in October.

 

“I am grateful to be able to give back to the youth in my community at the center I started playing basketball in. My life changed because I was given a basketball. I am hoping basketball will change other kids lives as well,” Sutton said.

 

The 5 foot 7 guard has been a local star since her high school days winning championships and several accolades for legendary coaches Khaliq Lewis El and Mel Weldon at TCA 04-08. Besides being named Burlington County All Star four years in a row, Trentonian and Trenton Times Player of the Year, Sutton’s favorite award was being named NJ Gatorade Player of The Year in 2008.

 

Sutton went on to earn a full scholarship to play for Dawn Staley, 2020 Women’s Basketball Olympic Coach, at the University of South Carolina. Sutton scored more than 1,000 points in both high school and college and continued to earn more awards as a player in the Southeastern Conference.

 

Since graduating college in 2012 with a communications degree, Sutton played professional basketball in five different countries. She also started her own business “Fan Favorite University”.

 

Attendees will be her women’s summer league basketball players and their families.

 

The give-away event will take place 11:00am to Noon. The Fan Favorite league games end at 2pm.
