LaMONICA McIVER’S STATEMENT ON PETITION CHALLENGE 

In light of recent speculations surrounding the nominating petitions for my campaign, I want to set the record straight. My team and I respect the legal process and all legal and procedural guidelines.

I am a seasoned veteran elected official who has been successful in getting on the ballot twice in a city-wide election. Over 1,000 residents in the 10th congressional district have signed my petition and intended to see my name on the ballot for the special election in July.   

I am being singled out by a Republican law firm and a gubernatorial candidate because my campaign has worked hard to secure the support of my neighbors and because I have the support of our Democratic organizations. We remain confident that the less than creditable sources who are challenging my candidacy won't prevail .

The  rumors and political games only serve to distract from the important work we are doing to listen to the needs and concerns of constituents and develop solutions to build a stronger, more vibrant CD-10.

I am eager to get back to the work of the campaign and let voters decide who they want to represent them in Washington.
