Lance Statement on Defense Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) released the following statement after passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2019:
“I do not take these matters of war and peace lightly. The world is a dangerous place and many brave Americans are deployed around the globe protecting the United States and our allies. They deserve the best equipment and this legislation delivers to them the highest pay increase in 10 years. And diplomatic efforts must be funded and strengthened. We must give our soldiers and diplomats the tools to defend themselves and effectively advance American national security priorities.
“I am pleased my bipartisan amendment to audit the Pentagon’s finances has been included in the legislation. We must open the Pentagon’s books. Reviewing assets, procurement and spending habits will identify waste and ensure those funds are spent on national security or returned to the treasury.”
