Lance Statement on President Trump Meeting
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) today joined in a meeting at the White House with President Trump on the Gateway Tunnel – a project critical to New Jersey and the Northeast Corridor. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and lawmakers from both states also attended.
“President Trump today assembled supporters of the Gateway Tunnel project to meet at the White House where the Governors and lawmakers outlined the importance of the project. This Administration has indicated that infrastructure investment will be a priority and I am hopeful that today’s meeting and information will persuade President Trump to consider Gateway to be a national priority. I stand willing to work with the President on this issue to make sure we keep the Northeast Corridor region an economic powerhouse for the Nation. There is more work to be done but I appreciate the President’s invitation and interest in the project.”
“This was a significant week for the Gateway project. I was proud to join Congressman Frelinghuysen this week in leading an effort to ensure the Department of Transportation spending measure maintained critical funds for the Gateway Tunnel. A strong majority in the U.S. House affirmed that the Northeast Corridor must remain a vibrant national asset.
“I will continue to work in a bipartisan capacity to build support for the Gateway Tunnel project on Capitol Hill and with the Trump Administration.”
