Landmarks Commission for Historic Preservation Seeks New Members

Mayor Reed Gusciora Invites Applications for Commission Appointments

Trenton N.J. – The City of Trenton’s Landmarks Commission for Historic Preservation is seeking new members. The Commission oversees and advises on numerous activities related to the City’s historic landmarks, including protection and restoration of these storied sites, and the consideration of adding new sites to the City’s landmarks.

Mayor W. Reed Gusciora affirmed, “The City of Trenton’s Landmarks Commission undertakes extremely important work, and I am very glad to announce that I am looking to appoint Trentonians, who have knowledge of building design and construction or architectural history, to the Commission. The work of the Landmarks Commission helps ensure that we preserve the incredible history of our city whilst capitalizing on economic, social, and cultural opportunities.”

Under the Trenton City Code, at least one member of the Commission must be designated “Class A,” meaning that they have knowledge of building design & construction, or of architectural history. The Commission seeks at least one member that fits these criteria, but also welcomes other prospective members under the designations of Class B (someone who is knowledgeable or has demonstrated interest in local history) and Class C (regular members, ordinary citizens who hold no other municipal employment aside from membership of the Planning or Zoning board).
