Lauren Albrecht Appointed Chairperson of New Jersey Democratic LGBT Caucus
TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Democratic State Committee is announcing Lauren Albrecht has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Party’s LGBT Caucus. Albrecht is a lifelong New Jersey resident and strong advocate for the LGBT community and individuals with disabilities.
She replaces Chris Hillmann and David Grant will serve as the Vice Chair in 2019.
“The LGBT community has played an integral role in building our party and advocating for equality and justice for all,” said NJDSC Chairman John Currie.
“Lauren has demonstrated she is passionate about fighting for the rights of our LGBT friends and some of our state’s most vulnerable residents. I look forward to continue working side by side with Lauren, David and the entire Caucus to continue building a diverse and more inclusive Party.”
Albrecht has chaired the Monmouth and Ocean County Democrats LGBTQ Caucus since 2014. Under her leadership, the Caucus has seen tremendous growth in impact and membership. She has been Committeewoman for NJDSC since 2017 and is active in the Monmouth County Democrats Disability Caucus where she serves as Sergeant-at-Arms. “Working with the LGBT Caucus has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience as we advocate for inclusion and representation in legislature,” said Albrecht.
“I am honored to undertake this chairperson role in 2019 and look forward to making further progress towards equality. I thank Chris for his years of service and commitment to Caucus.”
The LGBT Caucus was formed in 2014 under Chairman Currie’s leadership to protect the rights of LGBT people in New Jersey in the future and ensure their voices will continue to be heard.
