LCV Action Fund Endorses Tom Malinowski for Congress
Washington, D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect candidates who will support sound environmental policies, announced today its endorsement of Tom Malinowksi for Congress in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.
“Tom Malinowski has dedicated his career to human rights, including the right to breathe clean air and drink clean water,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “We are proud to endorse his campaign because we know he will defend the health and livelihoods of people across the country by supporting science-based environmental policy and taking action to combat climate change.”
“New Jerseyans can trust Tom Malinowski to put the health of their families and businesses ahead of political interests,” said New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Executive Director Ed Potosnak. “He is committed to New Jersey’s continued clean energy leadership and will be a consistent champion for conserving our natural resources.”
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund,” said Tom Malinowski. “I strongly believe that we must preserve the natural and wild places of our state and of our country, and that protecting the environment is as vital to our economy as it is to the health of our kids. As a Congressman, I will oppose pipelines and offshore oil rigs that threaten New Jersey’s environment and delay our path to a clean energy future.”
Tom Malinowski has dedicated his career to human rights through diplomacy and advocacy. He worked as a speechwriter for Secretaries of State Warren Christopher and Madeleine Albright in the Clinton administration and went on to serve as a Senior Director on the National Security Council. Starting in 2001 Malinowski was the Washington Director for Human Rights Watch until 2013 when President Obama nominated him for Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor. He opposes the PennEast and Pilgrim pipelines and has spoken out against offshore drilling, especially on the Jersey Shore. As a member of Congress, Malinowski will continue to stand up for human rights by fighting for those most exposed to the harmful effects of pollution and defending clean air and water protections for all.
