LD11 GOP Assembly Candidates Amoroso And Woolley Condemn Racist General Majority PAC Mailer; Demand Houghtaling, Downey Do The Same

The New Jersey Statehouse and Capitol Building In Trenton

OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Republican candidates Mike Amoroso and Matt Woolley are
calling on Assembly members Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey to join them in denouncing a
racist mail piece created and sent by General Majority PAC, the same super PAC propagating the
LD11 Democrats’ negative and deceitful mailers. The General Majority PAC attack ad targeted
LD1 Republican Assembly candidate Antwan McClellan by intentionally darkening his skin
color.

Democrats Governor Murphy and Lt. Governor Oliver issued a statement rebuking the mailer;
New Jersey Democratic Party chairman John Currie and Essex County Democratic Committee
chairman (and Democratic State Party chair candidate) Leroy Jones also condemned the ad.
However, Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey have said nothing about the racist mail piece.
“We are disgusted by this mailer. It’s disappointing that our opponents would passively approve
the actions of a political machine that is willing to resort to racism to win an election,” said
Woolley. “They must not want to bite the hand that feeds them.”

In addition to the racist mailer in LD1, the General Majority PAC has sent at least five deceptive
ads attacking Amoroso and Woolley. The Houghtaling and Downey campaign relies on others to
talk for them, and has yet to respond to a debate challenge issued by Amoroso and Woolley.
“Racism must be condemned in all of its forms. I am shocked and saddened that the Democratic
Party has sunk to this new low. The lies are hurtful enough, but outright racist propaganda is
intolerable and should be nonexistent in any form,” followed Amoroso.

Mike Amoroso of Freehold Township and Matt Woolley of Ocean Township are fighting to make
New Jersey affordable, restore the $65 million in funding cut from school districts across LD11,
and lower taxes.
