LD26 Assembly Candidate Christine Clarke Endorsed by NOW New Jersey

Jefferson Twp., NJ:   26th Legislative District State Assembly candidate Christine Clarke has received the endorsement of the National Organization of Women in New Jersey (NOW NJ), the latest seal of approval for the activist in the LD26 race.

NOW-NJ focuses on six priority issues including reproductive rights, ending sex discrimination/constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism, economic justice, stopping violence against women, and LGBTQIA rights. NOW chapters welcome new members to help fight for women’s rights on the local and national level.

“These candidates have earned the endorsement of the NOW NJ PAC because of their commitment to NOW’s mission and six core values of achieving constitutional equality, ending violence against women, supporting LBGTQ+ rights and fighting for reproductive rights and justice, economic justice and racial justice. As access to abortion and contraceptives is challenged at the federal level, gay and trans rights seem to be losing ground and the Senate refuses to re-enact the Violence Against Women Act, it is even more important to secure these rights at the state level. Our state needs their leadership, vision and determination to fight for women and families,” the organization wrote.

“As a woman and as a mother of a young girl for whom I want equal opportunities to live, thrive, and be in safety and in confidence, organizations defending women’s rights, equity and equality are dear to my heart. NOW has had my daughter’s back since well before she was born, fighting against discrimination and for economic justice.  I’m so grateful for all they’ve done for the women of New Jersey and I will be an ally in Trenton as we create a fairer, safer New Jersey for all of our children,” said Clarke. “Congratulations to everyone endorsed!”

Clarke is an environmental advocate, a grassroots organizer and mother-of-four running for State Assembly to advance clean energy jobs, protect clean air and water, improve healthcare, and legislate with empathy and fiscal responsibility. She has lived in Jefferson for 15 years with her husband and four children.  You can learn more about her at www.clarkeforassembly.com.

NOW-NJ also endorsed Clarke’s running mate, Laura Fortgang.

The 26th District includes 13 communities in Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties: Butler, Fairfield, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Rockaway Township, Verona, West Caldwell, and West Milford.
