LD26 Assembly Candidate Christine Clarke’s Latest Major Endorsement is from HPAE

Jefferson Twp., NJ:  Health Professionals and Allied Employees (HPAE) became the latest major advocacy group to endorse 26th Legislative District State Assembly candidate Christine Clarke this week.

HPAE is New Jersey’s largest health care union, representing more than 12,000 nurses, social workers, therapists, technicians, medical researchers and other health care professionals in hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, blood banks and university research facilities in both New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.

“As a candidate for Assembly, Christine Clarke has shown she is on the side of health care workers and patients,” said Debbie White, RN and President of HPAE.  “At a time when the healthcare industry is rapidly changing, healthcare professionals need representatives in Trenton who understand our concerns and are committed to improving the quality of care and protecting our rights as well as those of our patients.”

“HPAE lives by the motto, ‘putting care first.’ Every day, nurses and home health care workers take care of our loved ones and support them in their most challenging moments. In the state legislature, among the many priorities we need to address are safe staffing levels to both protect the professionals caring for patients and improve patient outcomes and safety,” said Clarke.  “I support this among many priorities to improve healthcare in New Jersey.”

“The common theme among all of Christine’s endorsements is that they reflect the confidence of everyday people – healthcare professionals, teachers, firefighters, service workers,” said Benjamin Weisman, Campaign Manager.  “Organizations representing everyday people see that Christine will have their back. She is a working class mom herself and not only understands but relates to many of their struggles. She’ll bring their concerns to the table when discussing policy in Trenton.”

Clarke has earned the support of a number of constituent groups, including educators, firefighters, first responders, service workers, union and civic organizations, equality advocates, environmental advocates and grassroots organizations in this race, and she isn’t through.  There are additional organizations announcing support in coming days.

Clarke is an environmental advocate, a grassroots organizer and mother-of-four running for State Assembly to advance clean energy jobs, protect clean air and water, improve healthcare, and legislate with empathy and fiscal responsibility.  She has lived in Jefferson for 15 years with her husband and four children. The 26th District includes 13 communities in Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties: Butler, Fairfield, Jefferson, Kinnelon, Lincoln Park, Montville, Morris Plains, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Rockaway Township, Verona, West Caldwell, and West Milford.
