Cardinale, Schepisi & Auth Exposed as Tea Party Extremists in Lone LD39 Debate
At League of Women Voters Candidate Forum, Schwager, Chung and Hausmann Show Why Change is Needed in the 39th
WESTWOOD – In the only face-to-face meeting between the two slates of candidates in the 39th Legislative District, incumbents Gerald Cardinale, Holly Schepisi and Robert Auth were exposed on Monday as Tea Party Extremists who will continue the failed policies of Governor Chris Christie. Meanwhile, candidates Linda Schwager, Jannie Chung and Annie Hausmann successfully demonstrated at the League of Women Voters (LWV) candidate forum why a change in leadership is necessary to move the district and the state forward.
“It’s no surprise that after being loyal devotees of Chris Christie for the past eight years, Cardinale, Schepisi and Auth offer no solutions to help New Jersey families get ahead, only more of the same broken politics,” said Zak Sabin, campaign manager for Schwager, Chung and Hausmann. “From their failure to support women’s healthcare, common sense gun safety or real property tax relief, their extreme Tea Party agenda was on full display. This forum showed that there could be no greater contrast between the incumbents and what Linda, Jannie and Annie have to offer. Together, Linda, Jannie and Annie will stand up for New Jersey families and make our communities more affordable places to live.”
The LWV Candidates Forum was held Monday evening at Westwood Borough Hall. It was the only planned debate between the two slates of candidates, after Cardinale, Schepisi and Auth rejected the proposal by Schwager, Chung and Hausmann for a total of three debates to ensure that all residents in the district had an opportunity to hear directly from all the candidates. A letter dated Sept. 25 from the campaign of Cardinale, Schepisi and Auth responding to the proposal said that the LWV forum “will suffice” because of their busy schedules.
