LEADING POLITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP SUPPORTS PUSH FOR GREEN PROGRAMS IN CORONAVIRUS ECONOMIC RECOVERY PACKAGE

TRENTON – The following statement is from Ed Potosnak, Executive Director of New Jersey League of
Conservation Voters, supporting efforts for spending on green programs as a way to stimulate the
economy.

“While we are reeling with the massive, worldwide impacts of COVID-19, we must continue to
move our country forward during these turbulent times. Climate action can play a critical role
to stimulate our economy by creating good local green jobs,” said Ed Potosnak, Executive
Director, of New Jersey League of Conservation Voters. “We support extending federal tax
credits for smart and critical investments in electric-vehicle sales and charging stations,
spending for climate-resilient infrastructure and boosting existing programs such as energy
efficiency and home weatherization. Creating a 21st century clean energy economy means new
good local jobs and cleaner air and water for our families and businesses. We implore Congress
to include these environmental investments into the coronavirus economic stimulus package.”
New Jersey League of Conservation Voters is a non-partisan organization whose mission is to elect
environmental champions, hold public officials accountable, and support laws which protect our environment and improve the quality of people’s lives.
