LGBTQ+ Dems Encourage Early Voting

New Jerseyans can begin casting their general-election ballots on electronic voting machines this Saturday, as nine days of early voting are held in the state for the first time.

We encourage residents to participate in this historical moment. For a list of early voting locations and resources, please visit: https://www.nj.gov/state/elections/vote-early-voting.shtml

“From the top of the ballot to the bottom and vice versa, we need to encourage people to early vote. In this election, we have over eighteen democratic LGBTQ candidates statewide at various levels of government including Vincent Solomeno for State Senate. In addition, Governor Murphy and Lt. Governor Oliver are friends of the LGBTQ+ Community and we are excited to support them for their re-election”, said Lauren Albrecht, Chair of the New Jersey Democratic LGBTQ Caucus.

“We encourage people to come up with a voting plan and if you prefer another method such as vote by mail, please make sure to return your ballots,” stated Joe Forte, Vice-Chair.

From making diversity in their administration a top priority to signing key bills into law, Governor Phil Murphy and Lt. Governor Shelia Oliver have shown that they have the backs of the LGBTQ+ community in New Jersey. Highlights include bills such as S478 ScaAca (2R) “Babs Siperstein Law”, LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum, and the Ban on “Gay and Trans Panic” Legal Defense. In addition, they have established an open-door policy to the LGBTQ+ community such as hosting Pride, roundtable events, and LGBTQ appointments in key positions.
