LGBTQ+ Victory Fund Endorses Dr. Joeigh Perella for Cumberland County Commissioner
Vineland, NJ – Last week LGBTQ+ Victory Fund – the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ+ people to public office – endorsed Dr. Joeigh Perella for Cumberland County Commissioner.
The endorsement signals Victory Fund’s confidence that Dr. Perella is well-positioned to win the county commissioner race and be a strong voice for equality. Dr. Perella would be the first trans person elected to county office in NJ and the only openly LGTBQ+ elected official in Cumberland County, NJ.
“LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is pleased to endorse Dr. Joeigh Perella for Cumberland County Commissioner,” said Mayor Annise Parker, President & CEO of LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. “Dr. Perella’s commitment to smart public policy that addresses the real concerns of constituents makes her the best candidate in this
race. When she wins in November, Dr. Perella will become a vital LGBTQ+ voice for equality in Cumberland County.”
LGBTQ+ people remain severely underrepresented in government nationwide – holding just 0.2 percent of elected positions despite representing at least 7.2 percent of the U.S. population, according to LGBTQ+ Victory Institute. As an out LGBTQ+ leader, Dr. Perella will be an unwavering
voice for equality in Cumberland County. Her priorities in office will include county infrastructure, climate change, and healthcare.
