LIBERTARIAN MIRRIONE TO TACKLE CHILD POVERTY IN CONGRESS

For John Mirrione, child poverty hits very close to home with him. The Tenth District Libertarian Congressional Candidate recalls points of his own childhood as his motivation to take child poverty in America head on.

“From ages 3-6, there were times that I was homeless,” recalls Mirrione. “I remember living eating from the food truck”. Currently, 1 in 5 children in America live in poverty—by definition living below the poverty line. The latest numbers from Feeding America indicate that by the end of 2020, 54 million of Americans could be food insecure—this would drive the child poverty ratio upward to 1 in every 4 children. “Our children deserve the very best environment possible to grow into becoming that beacon of light the American dream has to offer,” says Mirrione.

Mirrione believes tackling this issue morphs into his own policy agenda he has when elected to Congress. The 55-year old Karate Guru, business owner, and ten-time World Record holder believes the health and nutrition aspects of his education reforms as well as a segment of his economic recovery plan where utilizing abandoned buildings in opportunity zones to create vertical agricultural businesses to provide organic foods and jobs for every community will be a game-changer in ending child poverty over time.
