Lifelong Hackensack Resident, Educator and Community Leader Gerard L. Carroll Will Run for City Council on Labrosse Team
HACKENSACK, NJ — Mayor John Labrosse and his City Council running mates are proud to welcome lifelong Hackensack resident, educator and community leader Gerard L. Carroll to their ticket for the upcoming May municipal election. Carroll is a retired teacher and was the longtime Schools to Careers Coordinator at the Bergen County Technical Schools, where he helped students gain invaluable real world experience in a variety of industries. He currently serves as a member of the Bergen County Community College Board of Trustees.
“Gerard Carroll is a true pillar of our community and someone who has devoted his life to educating children and setting them on the path to success,” said Mayor Labrosse. “We are thrilled that he has decided to join our team and add his strong experience in a variety of areas to our ticket. As a committed public servant, he shares the values that drive all of us and I’m certain that he will make an excellent addition to the City Council.”
In addition to his educational career, Carroll has given back to the community in many other ways. He serves as a Hackensack Auxiliary Police Officer, where he is assigned traffic duties to the city’s Immaculate Conception Church on Sundays. Additionally, Carroll is an active retired member of the New Jersey Education Association and a past Vice President of the Bergen County Vocational Technical School Educational Association, a member of the NAACP, a member of the Hackensack Troast Athletic Club, a member of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood Northern Central Southern New Jersey and a former Hackensack High School Assistant Football Coach and Head Baseball Coach.
“The progress Hackensack has made in recent years with Mayor Labrosse and his team leading the way is truly remarkable and I am honored and excited to join this team and contribute to our city’s future,” said Carroll, who is 64 years old and a married father of 5 children and 8 grandchildren. “I love Hackensack and want nothing more than to see our city thrive, and I know that the Labrosse Team’s vision of redeveloping our downtown, reviving Main Street, lowering property taxes and improving services is the best way forward for our community. I look forward to meeting with friends and neighbors throughout our city to discuss how we can work together to keep our city moving forward.”
The Labrosse Team ticket includes Mayor John Labrosse, Deputy Mayor Kathleen Canestrino, Councilman Leo Battaglia, Councilwoman Stephanie Von Rudenborg and Council candidate Gerard Carroll. First elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017, the Labrosse Team has succeeded in revitalizing Hackensack by attracting over $1 billion in new real estate investment into the city, lowering property taxes, restoring honesty and integrity to city government, building new parks, recreation facilities and public spaces, investing in the city’s infrastructure and creating hundreds of new units of affordable housing. The Labrosse Team is running for re-election to continue delivering progress and moving the city forward.
