LIKE HUD SECRETARY CARSON, BAYONNE MAYOR DAVIS BOUGHT ALMOST $17K IN OFFICE FURNITURE WITH TAXPAYER MONEY

BAYONNE – The O’Donnell Team today slammed Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis and his Council for continuously abusing city taxpayers and compared the Mayor to HUD Secretary Ben Carson after reports surfaced detailing Carson’s decision to spend $31,000 of taxpayer money on a dining room set for his office while HUD circulates plans to cut programs for the homeless, elderly and poor.

In Bayonne, Council members Sharon Nadrowski, Sal Gullace, Gary La Pelusa, Juan Perez and Thomas Cotter signed off on Mayor Davis’ almost $17,000 office furniture request soon after Davis announced a tax increase.  The Mayor’s purchase was clearly a priority, coming just weeks after taking office. The O’Donnell Team of mayoral candidate Jason O’Donnell, Council At Large candidates Dan Ward and Melissa Rada, First Ward Council candidate Sharma Montgomery, Second Ward Council candidate Kevin Kuhl and Third Ward Council candidate Matt Klimansky released the following statement:

“What Ben Carson did in Washington is a terrible waste of taxpayer money but Jimmy Davis and his Council Team have been doing far worse to Bayonne taxpayers for four years.  Taxpayer funded office furniture, forty abatements for their wealthy out of town developer friends paid for by city taxpayers and lawsuits settled with taxpayer money are just the tip of the iceberg.  Voters can’t do anything about Carson for another few years, but we can all get Bayonne on the right track May 8th.”
