LIME PRAISES NEW JERSEY GOV PHIL MURPHY FOR SIGNING E-SCOOTER AUTHORIZATION BILL

Lime announces it will bring first e-scooters to NJ in Hoboken next week

Hoboken, NJ – Lime – the leading U.S. smart mobility company – applauded Governor Phil Murphy today for signing a bill that will now authorize the use of e-scooters in New Jersey. Lime announced it will immediately deliver the new transportation options to New Jersey residents and launch the state’s first e-scooter pilot next week in Hoboken.

Last month, the New Jersey State Senate passed the legislation 30-1 following unanimous approval by the Assembly on February 25th. Soon after, the Hoboken City Council approved an ordinance allowing scooters in its bike lanes and approving Lime to launch a scooter pilot program.

Phil Jones, Senior Director of East Coast Government and Strategic Partnerships at Lime, said:

“Governor Phil Murphy and the New Jersey legislature helped secure a more reliable, affordable and accessible transportation future for Garden State residents– and Lime is ready to get rolling. Next week, Lime and the City of Hoboken will launch New Jersey’s first dock-free scooter sharing pilot so that residents and visitors can more easily connect with mass transit and get around safely and affordably.”

Lime is the largest shared scooter and bike provider in the United States, operating in more than 100 cities on five continents, with more than 50 million rides already taken. Lime is the only multimodal provider to offer electric scooters and electric bikes.

Lime’s dock-free fleet is GPS and 3G-enabled, making it simple for riders to find, unlock and pick up a nearby scooter using their smartphone. Riders can simply end the ride on Lime’s mobile app and responsibly park their vehicle by the street curb or at a bike rack. For Lime’s press kit, please click here.
