Local Officials: Hugin Will Fight for New Jersey’s Fair Share
BEVERLY, NJ ― Earlier today, Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs and Beverly Fire Company Chief George Meredith joined U.S. Senate candidate Bob Hugin at the Beverly City Fire Commission to discuss the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Program.
“Emergency preparedness is essential for every community and we need to support every effort to ensure our local first responders have the funding they need. That’s why this issue is so important and it’s great that we have leaders like Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs who are willing to fight for this program,” said Hugin. “Burlington County and its neighbors in Gloucester and Camden Counties deserve to get a fair return on the tax dollars they send to Washington, not continue to watch those dollars get sent to other states.”
Hugin was joined by Burlington County Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs and Beverly Fire Company Chief George Meredith.
“South Jersey needs leaders like Marine veteran Bob Hugin who won’t be afraid to stand up to Washington business-as-usual and fight for New Jersey,” said Gibbs. “Burlington County is in the process of making a $40 million investment in our public safety communications system to be in compliance with the FCC so that we are prepared to respond in case of an event. Our taxpayers deserve fairness and shouldn’t shoulder the entire costs of this unfunded federal mandate when our neighbors across the Delaware (river) are using us to get investment from Washington.”
The Beverly City Fire Department has two stations serving the City of Beverly & Township of Edgewater Park, NJ as well as providing mutual aid to neighboring communities.
“As first responders we don’t look at where communities stop and others start, we just see people in need and do our best to help them,” said Chief Meredith. “As a proud New Jerseyan, I hope that we are receiving our fair share, not a penny more or less, just what we need to do what is necessary for our community.”
Bob Hugin, a Marine Corps Veteran and business leader who has created thousands of New Jersey jobs, is running for U.S. Senate against incumbent Senator Bob Menendez. For more information visit bobhugin.com.
