LOCAL RESIDENTS TO PROTEST U.S. REP JEFF VAN DREW’S DECISION TO SWITCH PARTIES

CD-2 Activists and Voters Will Swarm Van Drew’s District Office Amid Reports the Congressman is Joining Donald Trump’s Republican Party

Mays Landing, N.J. — Constituents of U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew will hold a protest outside his district office to protest his imminent shift from the Democratic Party to Donald Trump’s Republican Party. The rally is being organized in coordination with MoveOn’s “No One is Above the Law” impeachment rallies and the #TakeBackNJ Coalition.

The Democratic Party machine anointed Van Drew in the 2018 midterms despite intense skepticism from the grassroots base over his conservative voting record on gun control, the minimum wage, and taxes on the wealthy. Nevertheless, many progressive voters held up their noses to vote for him in the general election in the hopes of taking back the House of Representatives. Now they are signaling their determination to oust Van Drew from office, and demanding the Democratic establishment empower voters to pick a candidate who truly reflects the party’s values.
