Lonegan For Congress: Lien on Me: Flim-Flam McCann’s Pattern of Not Paying His Bills

Lien on Me: Flim-Flam McCann’s Pattern of Not Paying His Bills

Colonial Moving & Storage sued John McCann for over $3,000 in moving fees

Township of Washington, N.J. – 5th District Congressional candidate John McCann apparently tried to stiff a New Jersey small business and was later taken to court to compel payment. The business in question, Hackensack-based Colonial Moving & Storage Company, filed suit against McCann in 2016 for over $3,000 in moving fees.

Steve Lonegan says McCann’s failure to pay his bills represents a deep and disturbing pattern.

“John McCann apparently has a real problem managing his own finances and paying his own bills,” said Lonegan. “Not only did this small business owner have to take him to court to get him to pay up, but the IRS had to slap liens on him multiple times for almost $136,000 in unpaid taxes.”

Lonegan noted that at the time Colonial was seeking payment, McCann was working in a patronage position as the right-hand man to the pro-sanctuary state, Democratic Sheriff of Bergen County, Michael Saudino.

“John McCann was collecting a big, fat government paycheck of more than $150,000 on the backs of Bergen County taxpayers, yet he still had to be taken to court in order to pay his bill,” continued Lonegan. “Add this to the fact that McCann was sued for malpractice by a divorcee he represented in a botched real estate deal, and one really has to question his integrity and competence. What kind of person does this to a small business owner to the point that they have to sue to get what they’re owed?”

Colonial Moving & Storage Company filed the lawsuit against McCann in Bergen County Special civil court and ultimately recovered $3,469 in fees.

The federal tax liens against McCann concern unpaid taxes in the years 2009 through 2011. A lien in the amount of $17,704.06 was filed in August of 2011. Another lien in the amount of $118,295.45 was filed in April of 2013.
