Lopez on the Allocation of Funding for Foreclosure Prevention

(TRENTON) – Assembly Housing Committee Chair Yvonne Lopez (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement on the announcement of funding to support New Jersey’s Foreclosure Prevention Act:

“New Jersey needed a proactive plan in place to address statewide concerns of foreclosure for homeowners and communities. The New Jersey Foreclosure Prevention Act is the blueprint for putting an end to our persistent standing as the state with the highest foreclosure rates in the country.

“The allocation of funding to support the Act is the first step toward implementing programs aimed at helping homeowners to better navigate the process and, possibly, keeping more residents in their homes with intervention. We must continue to work together to stabilize New Jersey’s communities as well as clean up the abandoned single-family homes left behind as a result of years of rampant foreclosures and neglect.”
