LOPEZ PROPOSES FREE TUITION FOR ALL VETS

Wants to Expand Nat’l Guard Tuition Waiver Program

(LAWRENCE, NJ) – Freeholder candidate Lance Lopez today proposed free tuition for all U.S. veterans at Mercer County Community College.

“Our veterans have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, our state, and our county,” said Lance Lopez, a veteran of the United States Army. “Free tuition is a tool they can use to learn new job skills and improve their lives..”

“This new program will help jump-start their reentry into the workforce, and provide additional manpower to our economy,” said Lopez.

Under Lopez’s plan, U.S. veterans maintaining residency in Mercer County will be eligible for a full tuition waiver, similar to the one available under the New Jersey National Guard Tuition Waiver Program. The difference being this benefit will be available to all veterans, not just ones currently serving in the national guard.

Approximately 16,000 veterans reside in Mercer County, according to SAGE Stat, an independent database.

“We can do more for our veterans, and free tuition is just the first step,” said Lopez.
