LUCIDE FOR CLERK ANNOUNCES TWO NATIONAL,

ONE REGIONAL ENDORSEMENT

Mays Landing, NJ—Mico Lucide’s campaign for Atlantic County Clerk announced three major endorsements Tuesday morning. In the only contested race in Atlantic County’s Democratic Primary, Lucide received the endorsement of the LGBTQ Victory Fund—the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ people to public office—as well as Our Revolution, a national organization devoted to electing progressive champions and fighting corruption in government. Lucide was also recently endorsed by South Jersey Progressive Democrats, a grassroots organization working to restore democracy to South Jersey.

Lucide has now been endorsed by two national organizations, five state and regional organizations, and over a dozen activists, past candidates, and former elected officials.

“These endorsements reflect the national spotlight on voting rights, representation, and government accountability, and I am honored to receive the support of each of these organizations,” said Lucide. “The County Clerk’s office is the front line of defense in our local democracy. Seeing the surge of attention being given to issues like the county line and voter participation is deeply heartening, and a sign that this campaign is making an impact.”

Lucide is running on a platform to make civic information accessible to all people in Atlantic County. His plan involves direct outreach to engage with communities, especially those with low voter turnout; modernizing the County Clerk’s office and website to make them both more user-friendly and welcoming; and enforcing better ballot practices by making the ballot fairer to voters and candidates.

Lucide has worked as a research assistant at Stockton University’s William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy where he archived legal and organizational documents for the university’s President’s Office, and also organized the Older Adult Education program for the Stockton Center on Successful Aging, for which he prepared monthly grant reports and annual grant redeterminations. He currently works in IT for a locally-based multinational corporation, where he has managed teams for equipment and software rollouts. He feels that constituent relations and being a resource for people is central to his purpose in life.

Lucide will face Egg Harbor City Mayor Lisa Jiampetti in a debate hosted by the League of Women Voters and the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. The virtual debate is free to attend, and viewers can either register to watch on Zoom or view the livestream on the Hughes Center’s YouTube page. The Primary election is June 8.
