LUPE Fund to Host Annual Power of Women Reception and Scholarship Presentations

(North Bergen, NJ) LUPE Fund, Inc. will host its highly-anticipated Annual Power of Women Reception and Scholarship Presentations on June 5, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at Waterside, located at 7800B River Road in North Bergen, NJ.

LUPE Fund is proudly celebrating sixteen years of educating, empowering and engaging Latinas to promote leadership and civic engagement in New Jersey. The organization hosts its annual Power of Women reception to honor powerful community leaders whose unwavering support, commitment and civic involvement have contributed to creating greater opportunities for Latinas in New Jersey. This year, LUPE Fund will honor Peggy Anastos – Power of Women Award, Kim Smith – Amiga Award and Brendan Gill – Amigo Award.

In addition to honoring community leaders, LUPE Fund will announce the selection of four college students to receive the 2019 Young Latina Leadership Scholarship awards. The scholarships are awarded to distinguished young women who are committed to academic excellence and exemplify leadership within their communities. This marks the eighth consecutive year in which LUPE Fund has provided college students from across New Jersey with the Young Latina Leadership Scholarship to assist in furthering their education. The 2019 scholarships have been made possible through the generous contributions from Zulima V. Farber, Gilda Morales, Michelle Adubato and Carlos Lejnieks.

“We are extremely grateful for the support from our scholarship donors, who believe in LUPE Fund’s mission of helping Latinas obtain a college education and equipping them with the tools and resources needed for their future endeavors,” said Sara Peña, President of LUPE Fund. “All of our scholarship recipients have maintained impressive academic qualifications and are inspired to make meaningful contributions to their communities. I am proud of our scholarship winners who are rising stars and whose stories of courage and persistence bring hope for a new age of leaders.”

The scholarships and programs provided by LUPE Fund would not be possible without the generous contributions of individuals, organizations and companies who are committed to making a difference in our communities.
