MacArthur Campaign: General Petraeus Comments Confirm Andy Kim Inflated His Resume on Military Affairs

General Petraeus Comments Confirm

Andy Kim Inflated His Resume on Military Affairs

New report proves Kim was junior level aide and speechwriter, not a top military strategist

Toms River, September 7, 2018 – The MacArthur campaign today called on Andy Kim to finally come clean and publicly admit he inflated his resume and embellished his role in military affairs, despite his repeated denials.

The MacArthur campaign made their challenge following a report from the Shore News Network indicating that General David Petraeus confirmed Kim was a researcher and speechwriter on his staff. Contrary to Kim’s previous claims, he never “helped build a strong military” and never helped “lead a global war against ISIS” before returning to Washington, D.C., to assume his role as a “notetaker” in the White House, where Politico referred to him as a “junior level national security aide” in 2014.

Earlier in the campaign, Kim was caught changing the language on his website and completely removing rhetoric that painted him as a top military strategist in the fight against ISIS. Kim recently doubled down on the inflated claims by referring to himself as a “National Security Officer” for President George W. Bush when evidence shows he was either an intern or low-level staffer at The United States Agency for International Development for a few months before continuing his education overseas.

“Andy Kim’s embellishments, evidence-free denials, and outright lies have now reached a compulsive and serial level,” said MacArthur strategist Chris Russell.  “At this point, nothing about Andy Kim’s story should be accepted as fact without further examination by the media. Not one thing. It’s time to dial up the scrutiny and realize that he no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt on anything he claims or says.”

According to General Petraeus, Kim was part of the Commander’s Initiatives Group (CIG), “which included speechwriters and a handful of other very thoughtful, intelligent individuals,” before going on to say that “CIGs are essentially internal think thanks that typically provide direct support to high level commanders and members of the Joint Chiefs.”
