MacArthur Responds to President Trump’s Address to the Joint Session of Congress
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom MacArthur released the following statement regarding the President’s Address to the Joint Session of Congress:
“Tonight, President Trump laid out his vision for the country and discussed some of his Administration’s major goals, like repairing a broken healthcare system, growing our economy, making taxes less so people can invest more, rebuilding our military and taking care of our veterans,” said Rep. MacArthur. “These are some of the same goals I’ve been fighting for, and I’m hopeful that Congress and the White House can work together to find solutions to these critical issues.”
“I echo the President’s call to repair our country’s healthcare system. Our goal should be improving access to care and quality of care for all Americans, while making insurance more affordable. I’m glad the President is committed to restoring defense spending, but I think a larger investment is needed to ensure proper training and readiness of our troops around the world, while also supporting critical facilities like Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. And as a Congressman who represents tens of thousands of veterans, I agree with the President that we must make sure our veterans have access to the care they deserve.”
“Both parties in Congress and the White House share the same goal of helping working-class Americans and I know if we work together we can find solutions to the tough problems facing our nation.”
