MacArthur Statement on Tragedy at Southern Border

Toms River, New Jersey – Congressman Tom MacArthur released the following statement addressing the tragedy at our southern border.

“This Father’s Day has been a little different for me. It is my first without my dad and also my first as a grandfather. My dad taught me in all his actions, that nothing is more important than showing love and instilling a sense of purpose and responsibility in our children. I am proud of my children and who they are growing up to be.

I am also very mindful today of the tragedy at our southern border. The separation of children from their fathers and mothers must stop immediately. I believe that we have finally reached a compromise solution in Congress that protects our borders, gives Dreamers a legal path forward without letting them jump the line, and stops the Administration from separating families.

I intend to vote yes and I am calling on both Republicans and Democrats to accept this compromise. It is long past time to fix our immigration system and this bill is a good start. The White House has made it clear that the President will sign this bill. We must pass it this week and the Senate must send it to him.”
