MacArthur’s Statement on Re-Imposed Sanctions on Iran

Toms River, New Jersey—Congressman Tom MacArthur released the following statement after the Trump Administration announced its restoration of sanctions on Iran:

“I commend the Administration’s actions to re-impose tough sanctions on Iran’s economic sectors. Iran, the leading state sponsor of terrorism, threatens American values and the security and existence of our greatest ally in the region, Israel. These sanctions were previously lifted under the Obama Administration’s severely flawed Iran Nuclear Deal,” said Congressman MacArthur. “In April, I led a bipartisan letter to the President urging him to impose sanctions on Iran’s intercontinental ballistic missile program and treat the program as part of Iran’s nuclear weapons program. As the Administration considers additional sanctions, I am hopeful that this program will be included. I will continue working with my colleagues and the Administration to keep maximum pressure on the regime, protect our national security, and ensure Iran does not become a nuclear power.”
