SHORT HILLS, NJ – U.S. Senate candidate for New Jersey Shirley Maia-Cusick issued the following statement in response to the Department of Justice’s indictment of Senator Menendez on federal bribery charges:
“The moment everyone in New Jersey knew was coming is finally here: Bob Menendez was indicted on federal bribery charges by the Department of Justice. His corrupt behavior is a clear and blatant betrayal of the interests of our country. New Jersey’s decent, hardworking people deserve better from their elected representative. It is time for justice to be served and for Menendez to no longer disgrace the office he holds. I call on him to resign immediately.
I am running to represent New Jersey in the United States Senate to bring honesty and integrity back to Washington. We need an outsider, not a career politician. My loyalty will be to the people of my state, not to corrupt business interests.”
Shirley Maia-Cusick is an immigrant and self-made successful business owner of an immigration consulting firm in Short Hills, New Jersey. She is the leading Republican candidate set to replace disgraced Senator Bob Menendez. Maia-Cusick will become the first woman and Latina to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Senate.
